Early Morning Volunteer Drivers Needed
Are you an early riser? Do you have Sunday mornings between 7am and 10am free?
Two grocery stores (Giant on Duke Street in Alexandria and Safeway on Rt. 50) have agreed to donate to AFAC on Sunday mornings. We are looking for two teams of volunteer drivers who can pick-up donations at these stores Sundays between 7 and 10am. If interested, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Office Help Needed
If you are detail oriented, proficient in Microsoft Excel, and available to help in our office by updating our client walk-in list and do other light office work, such as helping to answer phones Monday, Tuesday or Thursday afternoon from 2:30-5pm, please contact email@example.com.
“Stuff the Van, Score for AFAC” Food Drives
Six local grocery stores have agreed to hold food drives for AFAC, the weekend of the NCAA Basketball Tournament: Saturday, April 2nd and Sunday, April 3rd, 10am-4pm. AFAC needs volunteers who can stand outside of stores to pass out AFAC information and collect food donations at the following stores:
Giant: 2901 S. Glebe Road
Giant: 3480 S. Jefferson Street
Giant: 3115 Lee Highway
Giant: 3450 Washington Blvd [Sunday only]
Westover Market: 5863 Washington Blvd
Whole Foods: 2700 Wilson Blvd
We also need volunteers to drive to participating stores to pick up food donations and transport them back to AFAC, and other volunteers to staff the AFAC warehouse to collect food donations as they are dropped off. Volunteers needed on the Farm. Saturday morning 8 am-noon, April 2nd and April 9th. Help plant potatoes at Volunteer Farm located in Woodstock, Virginia. Volunteer Farm is one of AFAC’s new sister organizations that donates vegetables to AFAC. Help them put in an early crop of potatoes next month. Shred for Bread is back!
As mentioned above, Proshred is donating their time and services to shred your personal papers on Saturday, April 9th at Little Falls Presbyterian Church in return for food or monetary donations for AFAC.
We need volunteers to leaflet in the North Arlington neighborhoods near Little Falls Presbyterian Church the weekend of April 1-3 or the week of April 4. This is a great activity for families or groups.
We are also looking for four volunteers who can collect donations during the Shred for Bread event on Saturday, April 9. Two volunteers are needed from 9:30-11:30. For the second shift, 11:30-1, we need two volunteers who can drive the donations to AFAC at the end of the event. Calling all Virginia Cavaliers Fans!
The University of Virginia football team is holding a Spring Practice/Scrimmage and Food Drive on Saturday, March 26th at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. We need 4 volunteers who can “host” the food drive from 11am-4pm (this includes driving the AFAC van to the high school, sharing information about AFAC, collecting donations and bringing donations back to AFAC in the van). Spanish Translators Needed for Cooking Demonstrations
